Magicka in Fallen Dreams consists of Spell Effects & Spheres of Influence being used together to a variety of results. A caster learns Spell Effects as Abilities when leveling up or through training & study, these effects are cast through whatever spheres the caster holds dominion over. Every race gains access to a specific sphere for free, & others can be obtained through study, within certain Backgrounds, bestowment through magickal beings or items, or bought as Abilities by the player as long as the sphere is within the same triad as an already owned sphere.

The Spheres are divided into several Synchronic Triads within Greater Triads

Spell Effects

  • Evocation – Int 2, Wis 2 – +16MP – Basic ranged spell effect, target line of sight
    • Projection – Int 3, Wis 3 – +24MP – Improved ranged spell effect, aoe cone, prism, or sphere
    • Lensing – Int 3, Wis 4 – +30MP – Improved ranged spell effect, increased range or aoe beam
      • Refraction – Int 5, Wis 4 – +27MP – Refracted beam splits into 3 rays, multi-attack
  • Restoration – Wis 3 – +16MP – Basic healing spell effects
    • Abjuration – Wis 4, End 2 – +25MP – Protection spell effects
    • Resurgency – Wis 7 – +50MP – Greater healing spell effects
  • Channeling – Int 2, End 2 – +12MP – Basic spell effect, target within reach of hands
    • Transference – Int 3, End 2 – +18MP – Transfer magickal energy from self to target 10ft
      • Osmosis – Int 4, End 4 – +24MP – Transfer magickal energy between two targets, or self & target, 15ft
        • Induction – Int 5, End 4 – +21MP – Draw magickal energy from a target 30ft
    • Invocation – Int 4, End 2 – +18MP – Channel magickal essence into one’s self
      • Dispersion – Int 5, Wis 3 – +32MP – Dispel enchantments & magickal effects
        • Nullification – Int 6, Wis 4 – +40MP – Reaction spell challenge, cancel or fail another caster’s spell
      • Enchantation – Int 5, Wis 3 – +36MP – Channel magickal essence into an object
        • Obsession – Int 7, End 4 – +48MP – Enchant an object with an essence of the enchanter
          • Possession – Int 8, End 6 – +60MP – Enthrall or enchant an entity with an essence of the caster
  • Conjuration – Int 3, End 2 – +24MP – Summon an amount of your sphere’s matter
    • Construction – Int 3, End 3 – +20MP – Grant shape & form to a conjured material
    • Alteration – Int 4, End 3 – +20MP – Control over a conjured or present material
      • Atronacy – Int 5, Wis 3 – +35MP – Construct a temporary golem from conjured material
        • Animus – Int 7, Wis 5 – +66MP – Bestow an atronach or construct with permanence & basic autonamy
